Privacy Policy

Clipsy ("we", "us", "our") is a web-based tool for captioning and clipping videos, available at clipsy.cc. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Google account info — When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture. We do not receive or store your Google password.
• Usage balance — We track the processing minutes your account has used and your subscription status.
• Payment info — Payments are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record. We do not store card numbers or payment details; Paddle handles all payment data under their own privacy policy.
• Uploaded/processed videos — Videos you upload or YouTube links you submit are processed temporarily. Processed output files are stored briefly (up to 24 hours) so you can download them, then permanently deleted.
• Product analytics — We use PostHog to understand page views, feature usage, errors, and conversion flows. We do not send uploaded file names or full YouTube URLs to analytics.

• We do not track your activity across other websites.
• We do not sell your data to any third party.
• We do not store the original video files you upload after processing is complete.
• We do not collect device identifiers or fingerprinting data.
• We do not use advertising networks or ad trackers.
• We do not use analytics to track what you do on other websites.

We use session storage and cookies for authentication and product analytics:

• Supabase uses authentication storage to keep you signed in.
• PostHog uses analytics storage to count visits, understand feature usage, and improve the product.
• These are not used for advertising or cross-site ad tracking.

You can clear these at any time by clearing your browser site data.

• To authenticate your account (Google OAuth via Supabase).
• To track your usage balance and process subscription payments.
• To process and return captioned/clipped videos to you.
• To understand how people use Clipsy and improve onboarding, reliability, and conversion.
• To contact you if needed about your account (we will not send marketing emails without your consent).

We share data only with the following sub-processors, strictly to deliver the service:

• Supabase — Authentication and database (EU/US regions).
• Paddle — Payment processing and tax handling (merchant of record).
• Groq — AI transcription (audio is sent for processing and not retained by us after the API call returns).
• PostHog — Product analytics, page views, funnels, and session replay with input masking enabled.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any other party.

• Account data (name, email, usage balance) — Retained until you delete your account.
• Processed video files — Deleted within 24 hours of creation.
• Uploaded source videos — Deleted immediately after processing completes.
• When you delete your account, all your personal data is permanently erased.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under GDPR:

• Right of access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification — Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Right to erasure — Delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete account. This permanently erases all your data.
• Right to restriction — Ask us to limit how we process your data.
• Right to data portability — Request your data in a machine-readable format.
• Right to object — Object to certain types of processing.
• Right to lodge a complaint — You may lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

We use industry-standard security practices including HTTPS encryption in transit, row-level security in our database (Supabase RLS), and we never store sensitive credentials. No system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

Clipsy is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of Clipsy after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
